FACILITATOR TRAINING 2

Facilitating a group is about much more than leading an activity. It's about paying attention—to the people in the room, to the energy of the group, to what's happening beneath the surface—and knowing how to respond.

Facilitate YOUR way

In this workshop, you’ll explore how to facilitate in a way that is true to who you are. We’ll take time to discover your own facilitation philosophy and explore how to develop a facilitation style that feels natural and authentic to you.

Some of the things we’ll cover include:

  • Facilitation philosophy — What do you believe about your role as a facilitator?

  • Creating a safe space — Helping participants feel comfortable, supported, and free to take creative risks.

  • Reading the room — Paying attention to what’s happening in the group and responding in the moment.

  • Group dynamics — Understanding how people interact and how that can shape the experience.

  • When to step in and when to step back — Finding the balance between guiding and allowing.

  • Handling obstacles — Thinking through the unexpected things that inevitably happen when working with groups.

  • Adapting to your participants — Recognizing and responding to different needs, abilities, personalities, and levels of participation.

This class is fluid and evolving. That means we will use your lived experiences as facilitators and build from there. This workshop is for people who already have some facilitating experience so we can us real scenarios to guide us.

We will create an Art Journal page during this workshop, but we’ll also use journaling and short writing exercises to help us slow down and get clear, and to explore who we are as facilitators, what matters to us, and what we want our facilitation practice to look like.
