Everyone can travel journal
A travel journal is a wonderful place to hold special memories of your travels. Whether you are crossing the ocean, the country, or even the city, it offers a simple, creative way to record what you saw, how it felt, and what made the journey meaningful. From big events like seeing Buckingham Palace, to saving the luggage tag from your hockey bag; a travel journal is a true travel companion.
You don't have to be an artist to have a travel journal.
A travel journal can hold quick sketches or even a splash of watercolour, along with notes about the weather, what you ate, and the strangers you met. Mine is part watercolour, part writing, part collage—altogether a vessel for the memories of my journey.
How it works
We’ll start with a discussion on supplies and how to make the most of a small amount of space—what’s essential and what isn’t. From there, we’ll explore a variety of page ideas. You can work directly in your travel journal or use printer paper for practice and templates, which you can later tuck into your journal as inspiration for future trips. I’ll also share several of the journals I use and talk about what works well in each—and what doesn’t.
What you'll leave with
In this workshop you will create a library of templates and techniques to use in your travel journal. That doesn't mean that you will use all of them, (although that would be fine), it means you'll have a chance to try different techniques and decide what works best, or which you like best.
If you've always wanted to travel journal but don't know where to start, or think travel journaling is only for 'artists', which is easy to think that way because everything online looks so beautiful, this class is for you. I truly believe travel journaling is for everyone. Also, if you are a person who can draw what you see accurately, you should still come, because everyone is welcome, and maybe you need to learn to not worry about things being perfect?
Some of the techniques you will learn are:
- making a pocket for little bits you collect
- combining collage, watercolour and notes
- what to save, and what maybe not to
- adhesives!
- how to use napkins, tissue, pressed flowers etc
- different page templates
- where to find 'the good stuff'
