Okay, first thing, you don't have to make cards if you don't want to, but in this class we will be creating little watercolour paintings that could be used to make cards. Or, you could make postcards, or frame them and put them on your wall, or make a little book of watercolours just for you.

During this 5-week class we will cover a wide variety of watercolour techniques and really lean into playing and experimenting. To spend time 'learning by doing' is where discovery and confidence lives. This class is perfect for beginners. We will be taking our time, and there will be lots of time for practice with lots of instruction. If you are nervous about trying watercolour painting, this is the perfect place to start.

If you've done watercolour classes with me before, some of the materials will be repeated, but it is a wonderful chance for you to expand on techniques you've tried.

Dates: Tuesdays 7:30-9:30
July 8, 15, 22, 29 and August 5

$100

Schedule:

Week one:
Backgrounds and bookmarks. Week one we will create a swatch card of all our colours as well as some background cards. We will getting comfortable with our paints, and then making bookmarks.

Week two:
Flowers. Using what we learned in week one, during week two we will be mixing colours, and creating beautiful flowers. Using a few tips and tricks, anyone can make sweet pansies and bouquets.

Week three:
Birds. Realistic and whimsical. During week three we will be painting different birds. We will be embellishing our birds with pens, and watercolour crayons.

Week four:
Trees! Simple to complex, adding trees to landscapes and as stand alone pictures..

Week five:
Chickens. For our last session we will be painting chickens as well as discussing how to make our little paintings into cards and sharing different card making tips.

What I want you to leave with is the confidence that you can paint.  I never tried to paint real things because I can't draw what I see accurately. A couple of  years ago I challenged myself to learn how to paint trees, and what I really learned was if I try, and practice, I can paint. So join me, for 5 weeks of watercolour fun and learn that you can paint too.
